Kipling Camp a Jungle Lodge that was established
in 1990 on the edge of Kanha Tiger Reserve (Village Mocha near Kisli Gate) in
Madhya Pradesh. The camp is open to naturalists, conservationists and those
who wish to relax in idyllic surroundings. It is also the home of TARA, the
much-loved elephant who starred in Mark Shand's best selling epic "My Travels
on an Elephant". Kipling Camp is a simple and comfortable Forest Lodge
with an excellent cuisine and bar.
In order to ensure good sightings of tiger and other wildlife, a stay of at
least 3 nights is recommended. Visitors are taken out by open four-wheel drive
vehicles to see and photograph wildlife at dawn and in the afternoon picnics
and bird walks are arranged.
Accommodation
Kipling Camp has cottages with 24 comfortable double rooms, all with attached
bathrooms. There is electricity and excellent home cooking.
How to Get there
There are daily flights to Nagpur & Jabalpur from Delhi & Mumbai(Bombay),
& from Kolkata(Calcutta), Chennai(Madras) & Hyderabad.
There are also daily express trains from Delhi, Bombay, Madras & Calcutta
to Jabalpur, (a 4 hour, 160 km. drive) Nagpur, (a 7 hour, 260 km.drive) &
Bilaspur, (a 6 hour, 240 km.drive).
Transport at actual cost from airport or railhead can be arranged at extra costs.
